NO MORE NEW PLASTICWe need to clean up our planet before it is too late. Our seas, rivers, landfill sites and overseas forests are full of our waste plastic. If we keep manufacturing more new plastic this problem will continue to grow. At what point do we look at it and say " STOP, THIS IS ENOUGH NOW!"? If we stop the manufacturing of new plastic, and only utilise what we already have (115 years of plastic manufacturing!), we can encourage recycling and the reclamation of the plastic already dumped. We don't want to be without plastic, it has many uses. But we do not need more of it polluting our world. Lets reclaim and reuse that which we already have.22 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Elaine Chatwin

Make retailers responsible for plastic packagingThe waste is damaging the world and this has to be solved by everyone in the 'waste chain' being responsible for their part. Retailers are major players yet they pass the buck to consumers. Lets make that stop.17 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Anthony Palmer

Stop burning fossil fuels now!As far as we know, we are the only creatures in the universe who currently understand something of its existence. It would be a shame if that capacity were lost due to something we had it in our power to fix. More concisely, if you have children, you will want to leave them a world in which our civilisation can continue to thrive and produce new wonders.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by John Thomas

Give the shocking lack of political will to address the climate crisis nowhere to hide ...Everyone concerned by the climate crisis can sign this petition. If a truly vast number of us, tens of millions, do, then this petition will be a very powerful tool to be weilded in parliament against the appalling inaction.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by James Sherburn

Strengthen the Ban on Bee Killing InseticideWe have already lost a third of the bee population in this country, there are many crops that rely on pollinators and not only commercially grown crops but also in gardens and allotments across the Nation. Even a very small amount of this insecticide getting into wildflowers can cause devastation to the bee population14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Andy Vincent

Say No to Pollution in OceansPollution in oceans is a huge issue now. Here are some stats and facts to prove this: Up to 12.7 million tons of plastic enter the Ocean every year. That’s similar to emptying a garbage truck of plastic into an ocean every minute. There is more microplastic in the ocean than there are stars in the Milky Way. Plastic in the Ocean breaks up into smaller fragments called microplastics. It will never go away! These microplastics have been identified in commercial fish consumed by humans. 322 million tons of plastic were produced in 2015 — the same weight as 900 Empire State Buildings (which is made of granite and steel). Birds are highly susceptible to plastic ingestion. It is estimated that over 90% of all seabirds have ingested plastic. 60-90% of marine litter is plastic-based. The average UK citizen consumes 167 plastic water bottles each year — but recycles just 25% of them. I'm Kevin Wilson from https://waterfilterhelper.com/. I love helping people solve their water problems. I strongly believe that we need to start the change with ourselves. That's why I've created this petition. Let's stop this pollution in oceans before it's too late... The problem of pollution in oceans can be tackled by looking at the root cause. And it is not a lack of technology or money that is needed but rather a willingness to work together and change behavior for a cleaner world. We need to work across sectors to find solutions. Remember together we can make the change. Sign this petition today!14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kevin Wilson

Slow Down Fast FashionFashion is a factor that affects everyone with its problems which are hidden in flashy and bright adverts and colours. Many ways of making clothes and transporting them affects the planet in many ways that are not often understood by many people. Our aim is to spread awareness for this problem through this petition whilst making a bigger change to our city and peers.45 of 100 SignaturesCreated by lizzie whelan

Ban Private JetsWe have all got to get serious about fighting climate change by taking deliberate steps to reduce our carbon emissions. However, it is easiest for the big emitters, such as the users of private jets, to make big reductions. Simple morality dictates that the wealthy should cease endangering the lives of the poor by wasteful behaviour. However, the damage incurred by private jet flights is so disproportionate that legislation is needed to prevent them.46 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Tony Burton

Strictly limit discharges of raw sewage into UK waterwaysIt is critical for the environment, as well as for the quality of life and sense of local amenity for all UK citizens. Discharging raw sewage into rivers and coastal waterways is also a significant health hazard.25 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Keith Chadwick

Get the government to stop funding in fossil fuels and to invest in true green energy souces insteadThe current plans and accounting methods used by our government to meet the challenging targets for 2030 and 2050 are more blah blah! and greenwashing than they are real plans to achieve a carbon neutral future. Comparisons with other countries in this scenario are unhelpful as we "export" our carbon footprint and pretend to be leading the world in cutting emissions when the truth is far from this. We need a proper plan which clearly outlines HOW we are going to make progress and WHAT we are going to spend on it.31 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Roy McElwain
