Keep Lynton's Emergency Response TeamWe are a remote rural area with a large number of elderly and retired residents. As well as the locals, we have many tourists visit us, a lot of them are walkers due to the mountainous terrain around Lynton. Add to that the fact that we have a harsh rocky coastline and the fact that the roads in this area are far narrower than those in cities or other urban areas, and it's fair to say the Emergency Response Team (ERT) is kept busy here. Moving the ERT to Ilfracombe and/or Barnstaple would increase the response time of paramedics dramatically and it would increase the workload of already heavily burdened first responders. As a Scout Group, we feel passionately about this and we are against the decision to move our ERT %100. One of our Scouts was treated by our ERT and it took nearly 10 minutes for them to get to him - if they had to come from Barnstaple or Ilfracombe, it would have taken 3 or 4 times longer! The proposed relocation of the Emergency Response Team would leave all residents and visitors to the Lyn Valley area even more vulnerable than they already are and lives will be put at risk. Please sign this petition to ask Cllr Andrea Davis to stop the decision made by South West Ambulance Service Foundation Trust (SWASFT) to relocate the Emergency Response Team and keep the Team here in Lynton.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Daniel Whitfield

On line gamblingIt is important because I went from being a responsible person who had never gambled, to losing my home my job and all my self respect. This awful disease found me late in life and the devastation it caused is unimaginable, my fear is for the younger generation, they are growing up thinking it is normal to gamble on phones, iPads etc 24/7. It is the new crack cocaine of our generation. These sites produce slots that are addictive and hypnotic and they don't care how much they take from you. I am not saying that everyone who uses these sites become addicts, but for the many that do, it is devastating. Please help me to try and stop more people having to go through the horror of what I went through.39 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Patricia Cornwell

Reduction of sugar content is wrongly wordedBy just making manufacturers reduce the sugar content by 20%, they will just reduce the weight. "We reduced the amount of sugar from 100g to 80g, we cut the weight from 200g to 160g!". By wording the reduction to 20 'by volume' then they will have to keep the size the same but reduce the actual sugar percentage, which will make the snacks healthier.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Tony Upton-Huang

Remove Eagle Couriers NHS ContractThis is important because, Eagle Couriers are exploitative towards the drivers who do the work, and in both the manner in which they treat them and pay them. Drivers are expected to work a 10hr day and also be on call at all other times, which is unsafe as drivers can be on the road for a sustained amount of time. For example, a driver may have worked a long shift during the day, then be called out after his/her shift to make another long journey which could be anywhere Britain delivering emergency blood supplies/drugs/human tissue. All though drivers are "self-employed" they are unable to refuse the work as the company will then withold future work from them, as a means of punishment. Drivers pay for there own fuel and van. When considering the length of hours involved and costs accrued to the driver, they are regularly working for far less than the minimum wage, often £2-3ph. We believe this is unacceptable behaviour for a company who's contracted for vital work within our NHS. Please sign this petition to help bring this to the attention of Shona Robison MSP. Thanks for taking the time to read this and thanks for your support. Stuart Morgan.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Stuart Morgan

Frontline Services could miss out on Social Care FundingIf you or your family depend on social carers to help you live at home please join me in Standing Up for Social Care. In response to the Social Care Crisis, the government has allocated a phased increase to Social Care Funding via local authorities. However, it is not as straight forward as it appears to be, because some local authorities already know there are funding conditions that prevent funds being allocated to the ‘frontline’ of social care services because funding will be shared or influenced by Health. What does that mean to families depending on Social Care? It means Health Services will get the funding and Social Care Services will remain in the same ‘Crisis’! The ‘Social Care Crisis’ is a serious warning of the potential collapse of the essential Social Care Services in our communities. Social Care Services and the amazing people who work at the frontline of Care in Our Communities are seen as the unskilled poor relation of Health Services. In reality our social carers are the highly skilled workforce throughout the UK who are the key to reducing part a significant part of the burden on Health Services. Unless we find a cure for all degenerative diseases (MS, Parkinson’s, Dementia, Motor Neuron Disease to name but a few of a very long list) we will always NEED Social Care Services to take the pressure off Health Services. A hospital stay currently costs £400 a day & 4 daily Social Care Visits currently costs £60 for 4 hours. It is not difficult to see why the appropriate use of Social Care Funding can stop ‘bed blocking’ completely and save the NHS huge amounts of money. So why can’t hospitals find Social Care Providers to discharge their patients into the care of?? Because Social Care is in CRISIS – and providers cannot continue to be underpaid to provide care and are in urgent NEED of increased funding at frontline of social care. If we keep doing what we are doing – we will keep getting what we are getting – and we are very quickly losing Social Care Providers every week! So if we don’t take this crisis more seriously – Social Care will collapse. David Mowatt (as our Parliamentary Under Secretary for Community Care) can ensure that announced funds will be used to resolve the social care crisis. But WE need to petition him to listen to the voice of Social Care. Do you know or love someone who could not live at home without social carers coming in? Together we can make a difference – please sign this petition. Thank you.27 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Geraldine Walker

Fight the Asda Crossharbour developmentPublic consultation on the Asda site is a sham. RER, the company promoting this, haven't listened to a word said to them. They want to maximise profits by squeezing even more expensive high-rise apartments on the site; more than double the existing consent. They try to sweeten this by offering a new school in the wrong place, next to Cubitt Town, and a theatre we don't need and didn't ask for. Of course the petrol station people want isn't included!7 of 100 SignaturesCreated by David Chesterton

£20 should not be made from palm oilThe use of palm oil in products is causing serious environmental harm across the planet. It is linked to major deforestation in many countries, causing widespread loss of habitats, including the rainforest habitat. In fact, 27 million hectares of the earth's surface has been used for the cultivation of palm oil. It is now widely used in a range of products, and is currently in up to half of products sold in supermarkets. Flying over countries where palm oil production is concentrated is shocking. Seeing huge scars across landscapes which should be covered in rainforest is unacceptable when there are suitable alternatives. Allowing palm oil to be the substitute for tallow is not acceptable. This must be stopped. This is not the right substitute. It is unnecessary to add another demand and reason to increase palm oil production.130 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Rebecca Buckland

STOP THE BIG BOYSWith serious levels of obesity, air pollution, tragic loss of green fields and forests not just around the UK but the world we need to STOP the greed of the 'big boys' going against the wishes of the communities they should protect. From local playing fields, parks and woodlands to world’s rain forest we are destroying our planet by chipping away at its' very life source. Governments have the power to put legislation in place to protect people but greed and profit sadly raises its' voracious head. We want to start locally and stop the Midlands Co-op from building 82 houses on amazing green fields used for football. The plea of over 1000 residents has been ignored. Yardley is a hot spot for children's deaths with high traffic levels. High pollution is destroying peoples’ lungs especially children’s yet the Midlands Co-operative pretend they are the community's champion while the voice of the people is ignored. The founding fathers of the co-operative would never have behaved in this way as they genuinely cared for the wellbeing of the communities they served. It appears the Rochdale Principles are sadly being buried and their ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others has been lost! We need to protect other communities from the same bulldog mentality. Our planet is fragile and we are all suffering from not breathing quality air and/or having the exercise we and our children desperately need. In the past 13 years 34000 school pitches have disappeared! Please help us make a start to protect local people and our planet – thank you!51 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Fay Goodman

Bring back legal aid for family law. Our rights to a fair justice systemIt's diabolical that legal aid has been removed from family law. Parents all over the country are not getting a fair hearing and through lack of knowledge and unfair rules they are having to be litigants in person.55 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Frances Ward
