• Stop using taxpayer cash for private school fees
The Foreign Office spent over £13m last year on private school fees for diplomats' children to attend schools like Eton, all funded by the taxpayer. This is happening while the government is failing to tackle NHS waiting lists and public sector strikes over pay. The government needs to win back public favour and tackle the issues we're all facing - a massive public petition telling them to stop spending our taxes on private school fees and use the £13.7m for our NHS and other public services instead could convince them to scrap this policy.

  • Make online slots less dangerous – slash stake limits & spin speeds
Online slots are highly addictive and highly profitable, with more people needing treatment for gambling disorder after using them than any other gambling product. Up to 1.4 million people are already addicted to gambling in the UK and every day at least one person takes their life because of gambling. The government has announced plans to reduce online slot stakes – which are currently unlimited – to either £2, £5, £10, or £15 or “none of the above”. Online slots can spin every 2.5 seconds, severely impacting mental health, meaning people can lose vast amounts very quickly, even with a £2 limit. Sign this petition and tell the government 2.5 seconds per spin is too fast and even a £2 stake limit would ruin more lives – slots must be slowed and stake limits reduced to much lower levels.

  • Stop taxpayer money being spent on booze!
Did you know, alcohol for MPs and Lords is subsidised in the Houses of Parliament by taxpayers money. Last year, almost £500,000 was spent on drinks for those working in the parliamentary estate including 46,562 pints of beer and 2,800 bottles of bubbly. Recently, Westminster ethics chief has said that the sale of alcohol in Parliament is being kept “under review”. But right now, those who have the power to end the subsidised booze do not know exactly what the public thinks of this expense. A huge petition will show that we do not want our taxpayer money going towards discount booze when it could be better spent elsewhere such as our NHS or schools.

  • Remove the word 'entertain' from the BBC's mission to 'inform, educate and entertain'.
The BBC is an excellent, impartial public service. However, I firmly believe its purpose should be to simply inform and educate. When we, the public, are forced to pay for it, is there really any need for 'entertaining' programmes that the private sector would quickly step in to fill the void? For example not everyone wants to pay for Eastenders. I'm thinking particularly of sports, soaps, etc. These will always get coverage without us being forced to pay for them. For example, people still watched the Premiership when it was free to view on ITV. I also think this would reduce the burden on the BBC's finances.

  • Save Albright Mosaic Mural at Langley Baths, Oldbury from demolition
It is a link to industrial heritage of the region of Oldbury, its growth and the development of the housing, green spaces and community supported by Albright & Wilson (now Solvay and still trading in Oldbury). Albright and Wilson were the largest employer in the area in its heyday, and they link back to the mid-1850s. They were quakers and invested in their workers in the local area for 100’s of years. The mosaic serves as a tribute to our Industrial and Educational heritage and for the ex-pupils of Albright High school who made it for their D T studies with their teacher Mr Frost. There are generations of swimmers who used Langley baths too, that want it to remain in the public eye for future generations of the area.

  • Spotlighting Healthy food
Subject: Join Our Campaign for a Healthier Southwark: Let's Make a Difference Together! Dear Southwark residents, I hope this message finds you well. We wanted to reach out to you and share something close to our heart lately –a spotlighting healthy food campaign for a healthier Southwark. I truly believe that if we come together as a community, we can make a significant positive change that will benefit all of us, and we would love for you to be a part of it. Over the past few years, we have seen some concerning trends that we believe we can address together. Did you know that from 2019 to 2023, our area has been facing challenges related to obesity, diet-related illnesses, and rising healthcare costs? The availability of healthy food options has been limited, making it difficult for people to make nutritious choices. We've heard stories from local families struggling to find affordable, high-quality food that nourishes their bodies. Imagine a Southwark where our high streets are filled with vibrant markets and stores offering fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein options – easily accessible for everyone. Imagine children being surrounded by advertisements that encourage healthy eating and positive food choices, rather than promoting foods that contribute to health problems. We believe that by coming together, we can make this vision a reality. The Southwark Council has a crucial role to play, and our voices can make a significant impact. By signing our petition, we're sending a powerful message that we care about the health and well-being of our neighbours, friends, and families. Think about the stories we could create – stories of families enjoying nutritious meals together, children growing up with a strong foundation of healthy eating habits, and a community that thrives on wellness. Our combined efforts can inspire local businesses to offer more nutritious options and encourage our council to take action towards creating a healthier environment for all. Your support means the world to us, and we truly believe that with your voice added to ours, we can make this campaign a success. Let's be the change we want to see in our community and work towards a healthier, happier Southwark together. If you have any questions or want to learn more, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are excited about the possibilities, and we hope you'll join us in this meaningful journey for change. We are all being encouraged to use fewer single use plastics and carrier bags but supermarkets seem to devote more shelf space to these bottles of water-just ordinary water, not even spring water.

  • Disabled and elderly right to a warm meal
There are nearly 700 people who live in these PFI villages 2years ago all funding for the catering was removed we have a large number of disabled and elderly who now survive on cold food and it is only the generosity of there neighbours that supply them with a warm meal we demand that the kitchens that were run by Stoke On Trent council be put back The company Your Housing Group who manage these villages have done there best to ensure these kitchens never open they are talking about decommissioning them a soon as they can that is why we need action now Day to day we see our basic rights removed. These people have worked all their lives only to find that getting a hot meal is now no longer one of them. Don't let this become the new future, don't let big business say this is how it should be because it eats into their profit margin - help give back what they take away.

  • Greens demand Government action to stop "horrific" dog attacks on farmers livestock!
The Kept Animals Bill would have also banned live exports, cracked down on puppy smuggling, and a ban on primates as pets. Last month, the Conservatives refused to revive the Bill! Farmers across Wales, including the Vale of Glamorgan, will have been deeply disappointed that the Conservative Government decided to withdraw the Bill at the last moment. We support efforts to ensure that a bill is introduced urgently to pass these protections and new powers into law. Police forces require greater powers to investigate instances of dog attacks effectively. It is hoped that if the police are empowered so that there are more successful prosecutions there will be a greater incentive for dog owners to ensure that their animals are kept under control. Farmers rightly feel betrayed by this Conservative Government, they need action not excuses! The Farmers Union of Wales have said that the u turn has caused "real frustration"! During the Covid pandemic, dog ownership rose sharply as people took on pets as companions. This has led to more "gruesome" attacks on farmers livestock by some unscrupulous dog owners. Our farmers and their livestock deserve better protection!
