• Carved sculptures for St. James' Park/City Farm
While such sculptures have been located at various sites around Gloucester, including more than a dozen at Robinswood Hill County Park, funding has instead been expended at St. James' Park on an handful of exercise frames that attract little interest, and poorly secured litter bins that are prone to vandalism. Carved sculptures, it can be seen at those other sites, instill a real sense of community pride, while being more resistant to both theft and vandalism (which happened to two light benches in the community garden over a year ago, leading to the City Farm locking the garden up, threatening prosecution on 'trespassers', and not replacing the seating). A carved Gloucestershire Old Spot in the park would send a clear message that this rare bit of open green space in the ward has not been overlooked, encouraging and inspiring recreational activities throughout the community. I would ask residents of Barton & Tredworth and the city in general to support this petition, and promote it to TETRA and our city/county councillors, whenever possible.

  • Give Radio SE10 A Studio
Radio SE10 has the potential to grow and become a constant voice and tool for students. Community radio brings people together, as we have seen in the last few weeks, around music, discussion. We have already completely filled our weekly schedule, having only fully launched 7 days ago, we provide 25 hours of weekly broadcast time. To grow any larger currently, would require to 2 daily setups, requiring 90 minutes setting up and putting away equipment.

  • A6NI to be renamed the Heaney Highway
Renaming the A6 would honour one of NI's most distinguished poets, Seamus Heaney. He took this route often to school & back from home and the region was part & parcel of his early work. His poetry is inclusive, hopeful, reflective and frequently quoted as part of our peace process. Ideally the A6 also can further his wishes for progress and peace. This would tie up very well with the "Wild Atlantic Way" and can benefit the counties in between too. It would be advantageous too for Tourism and as the Heaney Homestead is on this route, also rather appropiate.

  • Stop FIFA expanding the World Cup to 48 teams
One of the joys of the World Cup is to watch - or try to watch - every game and develop favourites throughout the tournament. 48 teams is counterproductive to that and is just a moneymaking ploy by an organisation which never learns its lesson.

  • Don't fine street-sitters
    - Why kick a man when he is down? - I know from direct experience that money given to John, a street-sitter, was spent on food. We have become friends. Maybe sometimes money given can be misspent but let's give people the benefit of the doubt. Glass half full ...Better to take the risk of being foolish rather than cynical. - 'There, but for the Grace of God, go I'. I have met men who have held responsible well-paid jobs and then been reduced to street-sitting by adverse circumstances such as marital violence, debt etc. Street-sitters remind us of the fragility of our lives.

  • Opposition of the proposed English language test and fees for all private hire drivers
However the proposed English language test for the all private hire drivers has not been properly consulted on, offers insufficient transitional arrangement and lack of support to existing drivers to meet the requirement. We call upon the mayor to withdraw the policy pending further consultation, improved transitional arrangement and full support to those existing drivers required to obtain formal qualifications.

  • Protect the voluntary sector health improvement projects in Bradford
The figures released 16th November by the British Lung Foundation to mark World COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) Day, showed people living in Bradford are more than 50 per cent likely to die from life-limiting lung disease COPD than the UK average. Quote: Telegraph and Argus - 11 Nov 2016 / Claire Wilde, HEALTH bosses are setting up a crack team to tackle the district’s growing obesity epidemic. Two-thirds of the district’s adults and a third of 11-year-olds are now overweight or obese, according to health figures, leading to an increased risk of cancer, heart disease, type two diabetes and other potentially fatal illnesses. Back in May, the district was also revealed as the third “fattest” in England, with 1,907 hospital admissions linked to obesity in a year. The new team, which will meet for the first time on November 29, will be asked to set out a system-wide action plan for battling the problem. However, the proposals have been set out to cut £1m from the Health Improvement budget - key areas of work obesity - which impacts on copd, cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Expected outcomes of such a cut: • The VCS provide over and above what they are funded to deliver, recruiting and training volunteers in to support them with this work - this would end • Whilst delivering this work people are encouraged to join other health improvement activities and services. There is a higher uptake of people accessing new initiatives by people who have already used a service and built trust with the workers • VCS groups bring other funds into Bradford through writing funding bids to e.g. the Lottery and Trusts. As VCS overheads are covered in the work they undertake for the Health Improvement Team - these 'added value' funds would cease, as VCS groups close • Disadvantage communities have seen the closure of many support agencies across Bradford and these cuts would add to this list - impacting on the health and wellbeing of whole communities • VCS groups have built trust in these communities, having operated for many years. They engage with local people using a bottom up approach, delivering valuable services in ways that the Council cannot • Work that is currently being built on will be lost – years of evaluations, processes, planning and delivery – with lessons learned and expertise built on This is short sighted and in the long term will cost the Authority dearly, as the health of these communities quickly deteriorate further.

  • Mondelez International should give back Cadburys to the UK
They have started changing the aspects of the brand from product range, to location of operations and dynamically undoing history in the making. They need to be stopped as they are destroying a heritage and one of the worlds most renowned brands. This comes of affect with the changes to the following. - Terrys' Chocolate Orange weight - Bourneville chocolate changing - also under the Cadburys brand umbrella - Toblerone changing shape which is causing chocolate lovers to cry into their confectionery. - Recipe for Cadburys' Creme Egg - Operations moved to within Europe - Not paying Taxes - Creating product ranges that use other products of the Mondelez International brand group. - Workers rights and environment not being respected. - Not being Fair Trade All of these changes are to public knowledge as well thanks to Channel 4's secrets of Cadburys on the series 'Dispatches', where it unfolds and sees the true happening of Cadburys. This has led to me boycotting using Cadburys or Mondelez products due to how they are slowly eating away at Cadburys piece by piece.. Do you want Cadburys to be owned and based primarily in the UK? Please sign and share this to help get this movement going!

  • Stop the ticket rip off
Enable real fans to purchase tickets at face value rather than feeding greed of others. Tickets are being purchased with the sole purpose of being resold for personal gain. This happens with sports events, music events and theatre events. It is wrong and needs stopping. To stop this practice would be easy.

  • #keepBBCIndependent Public Service Broadcasting is vital to our democracy
The licence fee is and always has been the source of BBC independence from government interference. If our public service broadcaster has to cow tow to government for its survival, news broadcasts may become biased towards government policy instead of critical.
