• Help stop the press lying to us
Keeping our society fair means that people need accurate information on which to make an informed decision about the issues they care about. In the recent referendum on the EU both Leave and Remain campaigns were supported by the press in spreading disingenuous information to suit an agenda. The news media spread misinformation and outright lies instead of reporting facts. Several retractions have since been made in tiny panels tucked away where they cannot be seen without a headline. To help the news media uphold the high editorial standards which they aim to meet I think it is important that there is a cost to them for lying to the public and that retractions, apologies and correction are clear and visible. The Editors' Code of Practice can be found here: https://www.ipso.co.uk/editors-code-of-practice/ It states that "A significant inaccuracy, misleading statement or distortion must be corrected, promptly and with due prominence, and — where appropriate — an apology published. In cases involving IPSO, due prominence should be as required by the regulator." We believe that 'due prominence' should impact upon the publication to a degree that encourages due diligence. Please sign the petition if you agree.

  • Give Harry and Hoddle the England Job
We all know Hoddle did the business at first, but the press got their claws into him and even the mighty Mourinho had a flap when the media attacked. He doesn't handle the stress of the media well but this doesn't stop him being a tactical genius and doesn't take away any of the international experience he has as both a player and manager. Remit: Tactics, Training, Coaching, Growth, Selection Advice. Harry is cream of the English crop of motivation. Look what he did with Bournemouth, West Ham and Pompey. He wasn't too shabby at spurs either, but his head was turned because there was only one job in the world he wanted more; this one. But we should keep him away from it, because he actually wants it, right? His tactics are questioned by many, (as a season ticket holder at pompey who has watched dross for 25/30 seasons I actually disagree here), but there is no one better at making a player believe in themselves with English footballing blood in the veins than Harry Redknapp. He's also pretty good at getting squads to focus on creating chances... something we were pitiful at in France. Remit: Team Talks, Press Conferences, TV Interviews, Creating Chances and Scoring Goals, Selection Advice. The FA probably won't listen to us, but this is our chance to tell them that we don't mind how much Hoddle loves God or Harry loves a morning raid. If they're the best we've got, we don't care about their corporate image rights, give them the damn job and if they win something, you'll all earn more in advertising anyway. P.S. I'm guessing a few QPR fans and other Pompey fans might disagree with this, but without agents, wages and dodgy owners mixing the muddy waters, I think we'd get the best out of them)

  • Chris Skidmore - Support Proportional Representation
The country, and the people of Kingswood, recently voted for a shake up of British politics. Citizens of Kingswood feel underrepresented by the political system in the United Kingdom. Mixed-member proportional representation, as used in the devolved assemblies of Scotland, Wales and London, ensures that the views and concerns of all citizens in each constituency are better represented at a national level. At the 2015 general election 24,873 voters in Kingswood, 51.7% of the voting public, saw their votes count for nothing. Their votes for Labour, UKIP, the Liberal Democrats, the Greens, the BNP, TUSC and Vapers In Power did not contribute to the election of a single MP in Westminster. Their voices have effectively been silenced. The story is the same all over the country. UKIP received nearly 4 million votes and only 1 seat, the Greens received over 1 million votes and also only 1 seat. The result of the 2015 election was arguably the least representative in modern history, leaving voters powerless and disillusioned. This is not democracy. We, the people of Kingswood, urge you to represent our wishes and take every opportunity to back mixed-member proportional representation in your role as our MP.

  • SAVE NEWSON'S TIMBER YARD
Belgravia residents do not want this new development. As well as the timber yard, by threatening to relocate locally owned independent retailers, Grosvenor’s plans will put local jobs, the vibrant local economy and Belgravia’s heritage at risk.

  • Team Orders
F1 is a viewer based sport, without viewers, both at the venues, and at home watching on tv, there would be very little point in racing. Viewers don't want to see a race outcome decided by team orders, they want to see the best driver win in his own merit. At the moment Mercedes are at the top of the pack in F1 and offering some thrills to viewers by letting their drivers race wheel to wheel if the opportunity arises.

  • Stricter Regulations on Hate Speech and Discrimination
Across the country there are teenagers being bullied every day using terms such as 'girly' 'gay' and other variations, these not only demean the person in question but tell everyone who reads it that being a girl or being gay is not okay. This backwards mindset can lead to depression, self harm and even suicide because society doesn't want to include minorities. If the head of a powerful company such as Mark Zuckerberg stood up to hate, then many would follow in his footsteps

  • Ban Dangerous Pesticides in parks and land managed by or on behalf of Sefton Council.
The use of glyphosates has already been banned or restricted in 8 countries. It is not acceptable that ourselves, our children and the animals we share our community with are being routinely exposed to these chemicals whether we like it or not. This is a matter of great importance for those of us who care about each other's health and the health of our children, our cats, our dogs and all the flora and fauna of this city, of course including our beloved bees. • Stuart Pearce needs to be the next England manager
Not withstanding those images from Euro 96, Stuart Pearce had shown his ability to manage the England under 21 side in the past to success, (and thus knows their potential, there were others he nurtured but were left out of the current side by the former manager). Pearce was the interim manager before Roy Hodgson and so is aware of the pitfalls with this role. England and those fans from other countries loved the attack and strong minded defence of those halcyon days of English game, and not the "at all costs do not lose -a draw is ok" ..Place Pearce at the helm... and watch us roar again.

  • Hold an open democratic election for the job of england manager
The role of england manager is a public role not unlike a politician and therefore should be democratically elected. We demand an open election to democratically select the next england manager after the immediate dismissal of the non-performing Roy Hodgson.

  • Call for a three option referendum in the Brexit leave deal. Accept/decline/stay
This is important as many voters feel mislead after the referendum. This will give the whole of the UK time to understand what is really on offer at the end of negotiations. Will immigration be reduced, how much money will we really have available after withdrawal. This will ensure Brexit negotiations will focus on what has been promised, and show the voters what is on offer.
