A referendum on the refurbishment of the palace of WestminsterAs someone who worked in the building industry for over twenty years and watched the BBC 2 documentary entitled Inside the commons. In my personal opinion The palace of Westminster would need to be closed in the near future to be refurbished as a grade 1 listed building that was built in the 1840s. This type of refurbishment would come under heritage restrictions and cost the tax payer up to 3 Billion pounds. With services like the NHS and local government in this county coming under Budgetary pressures it's called austerity. Can we really justify this immense expense of a future refurbishment of the palace of Westminster with out first giving the people of Great Britain a referendum if they agree the massive cost to the tax payer . Democracy may judge that the general public say they want MPs to do there business in another way in there constituency locality. With out the filibustering of Prime ministers question times.91 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Mark Cherry

Facebook name change purgeOur names are part of our personal identity and are used by each of us to distinguish ourselves. Here is what we would like to say to Facebook. Dear Facebook, We would like to draw your attention to the way Facebook members have been treated regarding their names and accounts recently. Whilst we understand that Facebook has rules regarding acceptable names the recent purge is ignoring your own rules. People called “Bob” are being made to become Robert for example…. And the names we are known by in real life may not actually be those we have on legal documents. This certainly applies in my case, and in others too. We are not using the names on our facebook accounts for fraudulent, underhand or deceitful purposes so see no need for you to lock us out of our accounts and prevent us communicating with friends near and far. Please reconsider your recent actions as demanding “proper” names is causing chaos and consternation for many, many people, it is antisocial as well as heavy handed and may eventually contribute to the demise of Facebook in the future if an acceptable alternative becomes available to us We sincerely hope you will see fit to reverse your recent actions and allow us to revert to out proper account status on Facebook Thankyou in advance :-)84 of 100 SignaturesCreated by wendywoo watson

Bring Hertford Subways to LifeBy allowing the painting of the subway ceilings, people of all ages can come together to discuss the project and eventually work with professional Street Artists who can share their time and talents to help transform Hertford's excellent system of town centre subways. With permission, a crowd-funding project can get under way to pay for the Artists and materials. Once completed, a beautiful project like this will be unique in the county, possibly the rest of the country. Approx. 5 pedestrian subways serve the people of Hertford, providing easy access to and from the town centre. These subways are clean and well lit and in constant use. Schoolchildren, in fact all ages, make use of the pedestrian accesses. I use them every day. I often see elderly people and women with babies, likewise people with disabilities and travellers to and from work in the centre of Hertford. I have overheard young people say to their friends that they find using the subways a frightening or unpleasant experience. Why? I believe that subways can be a scary place. I would like the Council to agree to a project to allow the local youth groups and schools to work with professional Artists, to bring the ceilings of the subways to life, in an ambitious project that could put Hertford in the national spotlight. We want to make the walk to or from town a pleasurable experience, with Art inspired and created by Hertford - the place, the people - itself.60 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Yashi List

Stop the portrayal of guns & knives in film and game advertisingWe can't stop violence in films, TV shows and video games but we can stop the glorification of that violence using guns and knives in adverts in media streams and posters. Knife and gun crime is on the increase and the message from these adverts is that it is OK to use them. If you choose to watch a film, TV show or play a video game then fine, but advertising is usually seen by all ages indiscriminately. Please help ban the use of guns and knives in all forms of adverting.70 of 100 SignaturesCreated by alan mcclintock

Whitby Against Parking ChargesBecause these charges would impede local businesses, especially hoteliers and guesthouse owners, whose guests would have to pay for parking whilst another hotel's guests down the road would not. One hotelier calculated that the parking charges would cost £8,000 per year, due to the amount of time their staff would spend explaining the parking situation to guests and administering permits.69 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Andrew Williams

Save Raif BadawiFreedom of speech and freedom of expression are integral to global peace and security. We don't have to agree with what is being said, but we have to respect the persons rights to say it without fear. States which have laws like this which restrict free speech are wont to abuse them - to shut down dissent, to punish difference of opinion, and to insulate the government from all criticism. That is why the right to free speech, including the right to offend, is protected in international law. Even Raif's lawyer has been jailed. His crimes? 'Harming the reputation of the state by communicating with international organizations' and 'preparing, storing and sending information that harms public order'. Without respect for the right to freedom of expression, we are vulnerable to the worst oppression states can muster.23 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Carter Langley

All UK businesses and companies must use day/date/year conventionAnyone using a British companies services has the right to have their data provided in the mother-tongue with regards to convention of dates. This sounds Techy and maybe not so important however, it can and does affect people and companies finances. Here is what I am going on about........6/1/2015 is and always should be 6th January 2015 if you are using a British business or companies services. It is NOT 1st June 2015 which is what some other countries use/cultures. This ignorance of locale can and does cause major financial errors, confusion and disruption. The compromise version is the month being written in words EG: 06/Jun/15 or Jun/06/2015. I don't think is good enough. As Boris says, if you go to Rome, you will be expected to at least fit-in, at most integrate. When I downloaded some major banks statements last year, the dates were in US convention not British (English). This bank is a major very old institution. I read the dates correctly but they were in US convention and lead to issues. This is also cultural erosion. It is not acceptable to have this change unmanaged. If you have been affected by reading a date incorrectly that has had major impact on your life or your family please get behind this campiagn and let's start at the top. I have already discussed it with the Banking Ombudsman but it was pushed aside. This is NOT a 'non-issue'. It is as much about 'stealth-change' and NOT involving or asking opinion of the 'average Jo' as much as being a flaw. I have gone on enough now!, please have a serious think about joining this campaign and let's try and reduce cultural erosion and enforce Technical locale conventions. Thank you!
