  • Let's paint the i360 tower in pride flag colours!
The tower currently looks like a giant cigarette in the sky, let's be honest. Unmissable from most of Brighton and Hove, it might as well be a power station chimney. But why not take this opportunity to put some colour in the sky! Let's create a true Brighton icon and paint the tower in a rainbow! Truly in keeping with the bohemian culture and community, representing Brighton's unique and true colours, proud of standing out from the crowd. Be brave British Airways, i360 team and Brighton community, let's make a change! #paintwithpride https://s.bsd.net/38degrees/main/page/-/CBY/brighton.jpg

  • 72 hour No Fly Zone over Aleppo, Syria.
To allow the safe passage of innocent men, women and children out of Aleppo, cease the slaughter of innocent civilians and medical staff and allow crucial supplies to these beleaguered people. There are over 60 million refugees globally, people displaced by war and under constant and brutal attack. In my trips to the Jungle in Calais ( France) I met and heard some of the harrowing stories of many innocent and decent people and marvelled at some incredible feats of bravery. All of these stories affected me deeply, especially those concerning the children - hundreds of unaccompanied minors. We all deserve the right to a safe home. The number of displaced and traumatised individuals worldwide is a disgrace and Aleppo is rapidly adding to an already unmanageable crisis. I like many millions of others, want this to stop.

  • A Bowie museum in London
David Bowie had immeasurable creative influence and cultural impact. He was an outstanding artist, writer, composer, musician, actor, mime artist, with a unique artistic process which should be available to the public so he can continue to inspire generations to come. There is a great deal to be learned from him. As a great British icon we should acknowledge this by ensuring the public both nationally and globally can see and learn about his vast contribution to the artistic and creative world. Indeed, David Bowie was one of the most fascinating, talented individuals of this century, and possibly beyond.

  • Save The Railings Around The Bowie (Lazarus) Bandstand in Beckenham
Why is this important? It's important as the railing have protected the bandstand up to now- they were also in place when David Bowie co-organised and performed at a festival there. It is through the bandstand's link to David Bowie that money is being raised to restore it. The railings have been the protective arms around The Bowie/Lazarus Bandstand even to this day and long may this continue. I've organised two festivals there (13th of August 2016 as well as august 12th 2017) to raise funds to restore the bandstand as well as place a plaque there for David Bowie and everyone involved in the 1969 festival. They played an important role and with your help the bandstand's long history will continue. Help us keep the railings in place. Please sign and share this petition. If anyone can help do this it's the David Bowie fans! These railing were surrounding the bandstand when Bowie co-organised the 1969 festival and should remain there helping to protect it as it has been for many, many years, bandstands are disappearing around the country as are the railings around them, so let's keep this one as unique as the person it's now named after, there was only one David Bowie and there's only one Bowie Bandstand! Please note this is not an attack on the council on any other parties involved. It's about keeping history in a time when so much of it is becoming lost or damaged.

  • Stop a Betting Shop on Church Lane, Bedford
A large betting company is in the process of arranging a lease on a unit on Church Lane adjacent to the Iceland store. Research has shown that betting companies are targeting some of the poorest in our communities, particularly through the use of fixed odds betting terminals, which this shop would be allowed to include if licensed. Fixed odds terminals have been called the 'crack cocaine' of gambling. The shop will be in one of the most deprived areas of Bedford, that is also in the bottom 20% of the country. It has above average unemployment and high levels of child poverty. The shop would be located next to a medical centre, a community centre, a primary school and housing for the recently homeless. Church Lane has historically suffered from problems with anti-social behaviour, police and councils have seen increased problems where betting shops, in particular where fixed odd terminals are installed. Local businesses are already concerned and any increase in problems could threaten existing shops as well as causing distress to residents. We the undersigned call on the licensing committee of Bedford Borough Council to reject any application for a betting shop in Church Lane.
