• Overturn the decision to allow gamekeeper to shoot and kill buzzards
It is important to protect our wild birds and birds of prey. Buzzards were hunted to near extinction in the 19th century but have recovered to become of the most common birds in Northumberland. The reasons such as buzzards: will sometimes take young pheasantsand, or; the protection of gamekeepers livelihoods, are not good enough reasons for killing these beautiful native birds. Additionally, pheasants are a non-native bird which is reared for commercial shooting.

  • Save the Royal Mile Market !
The Royal Mile Market is Edinburgh's only permanent, 7-day, indoor marketplace. It is home to over 15 local businesses, brands and traders, all of whom are based entirely in Edinburgh. The market hosts: Artists, Designers, Muralists, Jewellers, Weavers, Musicians, Printers, Historians, and many more.... Now, a multi-million pound, London-based company have put in a bid to take the Tron Kirk away from us to use as a 'gift shop'. As the current tenants, we have the right to renew our lease at the current market rate before any other offers are considered - which we want to do! PLEASE, Edinburgh Council, don't take the livelihoods away from small-scale, Edinburgh-based businesses. We NEED the Tron Kirk. Between us we employ over 50 local people on top of providing a unique shopping destination and tourist attraction. In addition, many of our profits go directly back into the local economy. We have nowhere else to go. Thank you, The Traders of the Royal Mile Market WATCH THE VIDEO HERE: https://vimeo.com/178314147

  • Make our underpass welcoming once more!
Recently, the underpass adjacent to Thetford bus station was cleared of (quite artistic) graffiti. While this was done with the best of intentions the resultant mess is awful and blights the approach to the bus station and the town centre for the many people who use it every day. It is also immediately adjacent to The Priory - one of Thetford's main historical attractions - and gives a very bad impression to visitors and tourists alike. Thetford, regrettably, gets a lot of bad press - most of which is totally unjustified. Leaving the underpass in its current state only reinforces the thoughts of many who see it as run down and tired. The location of the underpass gives an ideal opportunity to present the town in a good light to a significant number of people and the walls could be repainted based on a number of local themes - The Brecks, Dad's Army, transportation etc.

  • No to Edinburgh Rugby at Myreside
This development of the stadium will fundamentally change the nature of our quiet residential area. Thousands of people will regularly be travelling to and parking in the area - Myreside, Merchiston, Craiglockhart, Shandon/Harrison Park and Morningside/Craighouse. These plans will result in: Very large volumes of traffic being brought into the surrounding area, with road safety being a concern. There is already heavy congestion in the vicinity during peak times and these plans will significantly increase problems on roads leading into and out of the area Parking in residential areas and private developments – Edinburgh Rugby estimates what we believe is a conservative 500 cars per match for the trial period. We believe the limited public transport in the area will result in many 100s of cars, minibuses and buses parking in surrounding areas - and those without resident parking permit restrictions will be most affected - as supporters follow their teams for across UK and Europe. Visual and environmental impact of a large stadium complex being built. Noise and litter problems, temporary food stalls and bars, anti-social behaviour.

  • Protect The Arts in The Arches
The railway arches on John Street have housed independent arts based businesses for nearly 30 years. It has been a vibrant cultural space for the nurturing of grassroots talent in music, dance, theatre and various other arts. There are few other spaces in the city centre that have this kind of thriving arts community. Currently the arches are home to 3 independent businesses, The Cardiff Arches, Jukebox Collective and Only Drums Aloud. All 3 have been based at the arches for over 10 years. The Cardiff Arches rehearsal and recording studios provide a vital city centre resource for all Cardiff based musicians including young musicians who don’t have the transport or budget to travel to out-of-town studios. Jukebox Collective is a leading company for street dance education and performance in the UK and was recently awarded National Portfolio Organisation Status by Arts Council Wales. Only Drums Aloud has been providing award winning drum tuition to children and adults of all abilities for over 12 years at the arches, and as well as a samba band and group tuition it also double as a rehearsal space. A recent planning application for office blocks the land adjoining the railway arches is threatening their continued use as music and dance studios by restricting the access and parking that are currently available to users of the arches. We believe that some minor changes to the proposal will allow the redevelopment to go ahead whilst retaining access and parking for all 6 studios on the row therefore allowing the arts in the area to continue to flourish.

  • Everyone 4 Squash
Dear Squash Fan! We hope you can take a moment to sign our online 'e-petition' to help our squash courts in Scarborough. Four years ago we registered our interest to become part of the new Scarborough Leisure Village which is due to be completed in May 2017. The Council pledged to replace the existing facilities and 3 new glass back squash courts were centrally located in the plans. Today we face the threat of having no courts as the potential leisure service operators want a larger gym. So at this 11th hour the Council are wanting to change the original plans and completely remove the squash courts. This would leave us with no courts in the town centre and far too many gyms. Therefore we are starting this 'Everyone 4 Squash' campaign to secure the presence and long term success of squash in Scarborough fo our current players and generations to come. We would be grateful if you could show your support and by signing our petition and spreading the word to all fans of squash and other competitive sports. Many thanks for your support, 'Everyone 4 Squash' Scarborough Squash Players

  • Stop Media Promoting Terrorist Brand
Promoting the brand of terrorism only goes to incentivise more allegiance from possible extremists. Without the major media coverage the main incentive of notoriety and the spread of fear is withdrawn. Stop promoting the brand of terrorism on TV news stations and news papers. A huge drive for extremist terrorists to do what they do is the publicity afforded them, and the feeling of being part of a cause.

  • Save Warren Farm
The loss of Warren Farm School Sports centre will deny many school children, local sports clubs and associations a place to play sports and keep fit. Many local schools have no sports field to play on. Warren Farm contains the best pitches in the borough with excellent drainage in the winter. Its 61 acres provides one of the few centres in London with enough space for multi-sport tournaments. Public land is being gifted or signed away to commercial operations all over the country at an alarming rate to the detriment of the tax paying public. This has to stop before we have no public open space left. Please start by Saving Warren Farm. You can help by donating to our legal challenge to quash the planning permission at; https://www.crowdjustice.org/case/save-warren-farm/

  • #SaveBarnetDiving
Barnet Copthalls deep water pool has now closed for demolition. We thank each and every one of you that has supported us for the last three years non stop. We still need petition signatures as the people power behind this great cause stands us in good stead for future funding. Please help us reach 11,000 signatures! The pool is now closed pending demolition despite the public outcry to save it. Barnet has spent 47 million pounds on two new leisure centres but could not find a solution for one diving board. Many promises were made, but we have had to walk through treacle to move forward even slightly. The Mayor of Londons Crowdfundldn team were also told by Barnet that their scheme was unaffordable, they didn't mention ours. The pool as you know is unique in the fact that there is no other like it between East London & Luton. It is large enough for Regional competitions, has a moveable floor and a five diving metre platform . The users of the pool are beyond heartbroken, particularly the children who have been out on the streets gaining signatures, raising funds through triathlons and attending council meetings. The scuba divers, public divers, dive lessons, squad divers, synchro, water polo and deep water fitness and aquatic fitness and therapy users are all also beyond consolable. Personally although the last three years have taken their toll on us all mentally and emotionally it makes us more determined to replace this prized community grass roots facility and protect the Olympic Legacy of London 2012! This is a tragic loss to the Barnet Borough. Decreasing physical activity in 2019 is beyond comprehendible. Barnet are also building 12,000 new homes and reducing water space. We want to build a game changing, fully inclusive, deep water pool for Barnet. We will have 50 aquatic activities every week and aim to have moveable steps into the pool and lifts up to the diving platforms! We ask that you stick with us on this bumpy but worthy journey. Please keep sharing the petition and follow us on all social media channels. Comments are more than welcome. Thanks for reading. #Barnet #BarnetCopthall #Copthall #Crowdfundldn #SaveBarnetDiving #NorthLondon

The actions of the NEC are so undemocratic they do not belong in this country. All across society they have excluded members and supports with bitter choices. This cannot be allowed to go on in The Labour Party.

  • Abandon Prevent in Schools
The government’s Prevent strategy, a centrepiece of its national counter-terrorism policy, is stifling the freedoms of children in classrooms across the United Kingdom and is counter-productive. It is leaving a generation of young Britons fearful of exercizing their rights to freedom of expression and belief and is counter-productive by driving children to discuss issues related to terrorism, religion and identity outside the classroom and online where simplistic narratives are promoted and go unchallenged. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQR0QZDPMvU Recent legislation in the form of the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 places an obligation on public sector workers, including teachers and child care providers to report individuals including children considered at risk of being drawn into terrorism based on their perceived association with non-violent extremism. Yet this obligation is based on a vague definition of extremism that includes opposition to ‘British values’, and a set of prescribed indicators of vulnerability to extremism that include ‘a desire for status’ and ‘a need for identity meaning and belonging’. Children in classrooms across the United Kingdom have been impacted by Prevent. For example, a 8-year-old boy was interviewed, without a parent or guardian present, and ‘cautioned’ for wearing a t-shirt with Arabic writing on it. Since the incident, the child is reluctant to return to school and is experiencing stress related health problems. A 16-year-old student with learning disabilities was referred to Prevent for borrowing a book on terrorism from the school library, and a 17-year-old boy who was questioned by police officers about his political and religious views after he was referred to Prevent for expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people. This 17-year-old student also discovered that the police had collected information on him without his or his parent’s knowledge or consent, and was told that this information would be held indefinitely by the police and may be used against him in the future. Prevent is jeopardising the rights of children in the United Kingdom to freedom of expression and education in the name of counter-terrorism. We’re demanding an immediate repeal of the policy. For more information on the impact that the Prevent strategy is having on children in the United Kingdom see Rights Watch (UK)'s landmark report Preventing Education?
